The Worms are Crawling in
The Worms Crawl InConcept inspired by The Hearse song. A human trait is to use humor to deal with difficult issues, such as death. Often negative associations with such subjects stem from social constructs and learned behavior. Interactivity encouraged to be seen as unintimidating. Sculpture utilizes duality and the idea of play and imagination. 2022 Reclaimed pine, velvet, polyfill, pine pellets, found object - 5’x3’x8’

Banana PhoneBanana PhoneInteractive Sculpture – 2022Five hand-carved wooden bananas are arranged in a row beside a rotary telephone. When lifted, each banana triggers a unique sound tied to a different cultural symbolism—racism, mental health stigma, colonialism, sexualization, or weaponized humor. The phone replaces the dial tone with a guided recording. Viewers are invited to dial banana extensions to hear further context and historical references. The absurdity of the installation contrasts sharply with the weight of the content. Bright yellow. Laughable shapes. A phone that moans. But the invitation is real—will you stay on the line long enough to understand what we’re really laughing at?This piece confronts overlooked symbols and buried truths using playful interaction to disarm discomfort. It’s a glitter bomb in fruit form. Beneath the kitsch is critique. Beneath the giggle, a guttural history.

🧠 Lost and Found🧠 Lost and FoundWood, mixed media sculpture – 2021One side is a brain with a fire alarm embedded. The other, a prescription bottle with a “push me” button.Separate—they’re cryptic.Together—they ring out a warning. This piece isn’t meant to be easy. It’s meant to feel like the process:of diagnosis, of medication, of navigating a system that never quite fits. It’s about trying to manage your own brain with borrowed tools, and never being sure where the emergency starts—or ends. It’s a scavenger hunt for coherence.A puzzle made of panic and paperwork.A metaphor you can hold in your hands but never quite reset.Because sometimes the pills help. And sometimes they’re the thing that keeps the bell quiet just long enough to sleep.
